How long do preserved flowers last in a locket?

It is one of the most common questions I get, and I love that people ask it before they buy. It means they actually care about the piece they are getting.

So here is the honest answer.

Preserved flowers, done right, last indefinitely

The flowers inside a Greene Is Gold locket are preserved using a process that removes moisture from the petals and replaces it with materials that maintain their shape, texture, and color without decay. Unlike fresh flowers that wilt within days, or dried flowers that become brittle and fade over months, properly preserved flowers sealed in resin can last years or even decades.

The key is the seal. Every set of petals at Greene Is Gold is sealed in resin inside the locket. That seal protects the flowers from humidity, oxidation, and daily wear. Once the resin cures, the flowers inside are locked in time.

What affects how long they last

A few things can affect longevity over many years:

Direct sunlight over long periods. UV exposure can fade colors in any botanical over time, the same way it fades fabric or artwork. Wearing your locket normally is completely fine. Leaving it on a sunny windowsill for years is less ideal.

Extreme heat. Resin can soften in very high heat, like inside a hot car in summer. Day to day wear is not a concern at all.

Physical impact. The locket itself is stainless steel and extremely durable. Normal wear and tear will not affect the flowers inside.

In practice, what does this look like?

Customers who have been wearing their lockets since 2020 and 2021 still have pieces that look as vivid as when they arrived. I have kept original test pieces from when I was developing the process in my college dorm room, and the flowers inside are completely unchanged.
